Port-Ready Diagnostics
This handheld OBD2 code reader connects directly to a vehicle’s diagnostic port to retrieve information reported by the engine control system. Designed for 1996 and newer vehicles equipped with an OBD2/OBD-II port, it communicates using standard protocols including CAN, KWP2000, ISO9141, and J1850. Once plugged in, the unit powers on using the vehicle’s 12V supply with no batteries or external power source required. A built-in 2.4-in display and front-panel buttons allow users to navigate menus, view codes, and review vehicle-reported data while connected.

What the Vehicle Reports
After connection, the scanner requests data directly from the vehicle’s ECU using standard OBD2 service modes. It displays stored and pending emission-related diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs), along with freeze-frame data when the vehicle provides a snapshot recorded at the time a fault occurred. Live data parameters are shown based on what the vehicle supports through generic OBD2 identifiers, and I/M readiness monitor status is displayed as reported by the vehicle. When appropriate, emission-related trouble codes and associated readiness information can be cleared following repair or inspection.
Simple Plug-In Operation
Locate the vehicle’s 16-pin OBD2 port, typically found under the dashboard near the driver’s footwell, and insert the connector to begin communication. The attached cable provides sufficient length to position the display within view while seated. After use, disconnect the scanner and store it in a glove compartment, center console, or tool bag, keeping the connector clean and dry and wiping the exterior housing with a dry cloth only.
Product Benefits:
